Recent Publication: Healthy Davis Together: Creating a Model for Community Control of COVID-19

This post summarizes the publication "Healthy Davis Together: Creating a Model for Community Control of COVID-19" by Pollock et al. in the American Journal of Public Health.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, UC Davis and the City of Davis collaboratively created the community program Healthy Davis Together. This response used both epidemiological and health behavior change strategies to limit the impact of COVID-19 on both the university and community as a whole. The response engaged citizens, businesses, the local government, and the university, enabling a joint local response.

Positive changes in health behaviors, such as vaccination and asymptomatic testing, stemmed from the multimodal Healthy Davis Together program. The program was found to be scalable and should be considered for other college towns to address future public health challenges.
