Some Genome Center faculty and staff commute to Davis from a home in Sacramento, which is a 20 minute drive on I-80 (of course, depending on the traffic). Sacramento is also home to the UC Davis Hospital and Medical Center campus, where the Genome Center's Metabolomics Core will soon have a second branch. Sacramento is a great alternative to living in Davis both due to the lower cost of living and city lifestyle. For those who'd prefer not to commute by car, the train and bus connects Sacramento with Davis, and public transit can be taken to reach any part of the campus in Davis.
