Mentoring Seminar Series at the Genome Center

Dear Colleagues,

I’m excited to announce the start of the 2025–2026 Mentoring Seminar Series at the Genome Center! These brown-bag seminars will take place every 1st and 3rd Thursday at noon, beginning September 4, 2025.

Each session will normally feature two presentations from our PhD students and postdocs, with each talk lasting 15 minutes followed by 10 minutes of Q&A. In addition to research presentations, these seminars can also serve as Qualifying Exam (QE) practice talks. For QE sessions, there will be a single speaker presenting for ~50 minutes. Whenever possible, we encourage pairing speakers from different Focus Groups to spark broader discussion across the Genome Center community.

This series provides:

  • A valuable opportunity for presenters to receive feedback and practice sharing their research.
  • A supportive forum for professional growth and skill development.
  • Flexibility for Qualifying Exam practice talks: in those cases, a single speaker will present for ~50 minutes.

And of course, cookies will be provided for all attendees! 🍪

Sign up HERE to give a seminar.

We look forward to seeing you at these seminars and to fostering a supportive, collaborative environment for all members of our community. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Best regards,
Patricia Baldrich
