2021 ADVANCE Scholar Award recipient: Luis Carvajal-Carmona

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, through the ADVANCE Program and its Center for the Advancement of Multicultural Perspectives on Science (CAMPOS) announced Luis Carvajal-Carmona as one of the 2021 ADVANCE Scholar Award recipients.

The ADVANCE Scholar Award highlights and celebrates the contributions that STEM faculty at UC Davis have made to their fields through outstanding scholarship and mentorship. The award aims to encourage excellence in research as well as leadership and outreach to underserved communities and/or mentorship of under-represented students. 

Dr. Carvajal-Carmona is Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine (School of Medicine) and a faculty member at the Genome Center. He is Associate Director for Basic Science at the UCD Comprehensive Cancer Center (2019-present) and Auburn Community Cancer Endowed Chair in Basic Science at the UCD Comprehensive Cancer Center (2019-present).
