This work involved sequencing the genomes of 59 archaeal species which are 'experts' in osmoadapation (the ability to adjust to changing osmotic conditions). Analysis of the genomes from these extreme halophile species has shed light on how such species rapidly adapt to environmental fluxes. Much of this work occurred as a collaboration between the labs of Genome Center faculty Marc Facciotti and Jonathan Eisen.
