Job Posting: Assistant Project Scientist, West Coast Metabolomics Center

The Genome Center at the University of California, Davis invites applications from qualified candidates for an Assistant Project Scientist position. This position is expected to work independently, planning and carrying out complex laboratory workflows in support of the Advanced Lipid Mediators Core of the West Coast Metabolomics Center at the UC Davis Genome Center. Responsible for the analysis and processing of biological samples for targeted metabolomics analyses using semi-high throughput gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) including the quantification of non-esterified and esterified fatty acids, short chain fatty acids, oxylipins, endocannabionids, bile acids, steroids, and ceramides as a core service for multiple on- and off-campus users. Responsible for sample processing, analysis, data analysis, quality controls and communication with customers and administration. Candidates should have a PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent job experience and/or training; experience in the techniques necessary for quantitative analytical chemistry of low abundance natural products; experience in the operation and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation such as Agilent GC-MS, Sciex 4000 QTRAP, Sciex 6500 QTRAP, Waters Acquity UPLC and Shimadzu UPLC; and experience in independently planning and scheduling complex laboratory workflows like sequencing projects.
